Why Okra for PONS ?

Many PON owners are satisfied with offering premium kibble to their PONS, but would like to supplement with fresh fruits and veggies. Okra is a nutritional food which is  low in calories and is a good source of many nutrients including vitamin B6 and C, fiber, calcium, and folic acid.  It is effective for the prevention of neural tube defects in developing fetuses mainly due to its high content of vitamin B6, calcium, fiber and folic acid.. Breeders should take note of these benefits to avoid litters with birth defects.

Okra is an ancient vegetable that is now loved internationally and can be prepared in countless varieties of ways. It is a healthy, low calorie, low fat food that is packed with nutrition and health benefits. It is easy to grow, and attracts few pests.

Further, the superior type of fiber found in okra helps prevent constipation (because it has a high percentage of water bulk and prevents gas and bloating) and maintains the health of the gastro-intestinal tract. Okra is an excellent laxative treats irritable bowels, heals ulcers and sooths the gastrointestinal track. Consider this option when coping with PONS that have sensitive digestive systems. There are no adverse effects and high veterinary bills may be avoided !

This is a veggie which promotes good bacteria, known as probiotics and helps process vitamin B complex. Studies have shown that it has large amounts of calcium, zinc, vitamins A, Thiamin, B6 C, folic acid, riboflavin.
