Frequently Asked Questions about PONS You've Always Wanted to Know !

I plan on shaving down my PON during the hot weather months and would also like to remove the fur which covers the eyes. Some friends in the breed advised against this.

The fur which covers your PON's eyes  actually protects PON eyes from harsh sunlight and should not be removed. If you shave down your PON to the point of exposing skin, you better keep your PON out of the sun. A PON's fur provides protection. Please consult your vet about this.

Why is my PON always so hungry ?

She is fed twice a day.

PONS tend to have huge appetites, but you won't do your PON a favor by overfeeding her. Consider adding a small amount of wild rice to her food to keep her more filled up.

My PON is over protective, what can I do ?

How old is your PON ? Have you taken your PON to socialization classes ? PONS do tend to protect their flocks and need to be properly socialized..

My PON seems to react to all protein in his diet. Do you have alternative options ?

Are you sure that your PON does not have inhalant allergies ? Not all reactions are the result of food allergies. You might also consider doing thyroid tests to rule out underlying health problems. Try exotic types of protein such as buffalo.

PON Facts

There is a wide variation among PONS and what works for one PON may not work for another PONS. Owners need to be flexible when trying to find remedies which work for their own PONS.
